Project Controls Engineer, Starship Infrastructure

Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.PROJECT CONTROLS ENGINEER, STARSHIP INFRASTRUCTUREAs a member of the construction projects team, you will work with a group of elite engineers and specialists across multiple disciplines to design, build, and activate infrastructure for a variety of projects at SpaceX Facilities. This role is responsible for the design, build, and activation of infrastructure, facilities improvements, and large capital projects. You will have the opportunity to drive positive change in a fast-paced and low-drag environment. This includes owning tasks/projects from start to finish, with the goal of making the SpaceX campus a world-class facility that can support the mission of enabling life beyond Earth.RESPONSIBILITIES:Own and implement budgeting, spend tracking, and general cost control measures across large capital projectsClearly communicate project status, progress, and blockers to internal and external stakeholdersAssist with managing high level strategy for project execution, including resource planning, contracting strategy, equipment procurement, etc.Build and maintain integrated design/build project schedules, from project conception to commissioningOwn and implement budgeting, spend tracking, and general cost control measures across large capital projectsEstablish project KPI’s and report on project performance against these metricsBuild budget standards, unit rate databases, and other estimation toolsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management2+ years of professional experience in engineering, architecture, or construction managementPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:5+ years of experience working in manufacturing and/or industrial construction project industryTechnical degree or related experience (engineering, math or physics related discipline)Experience with interdisciplinary project management and execution, specifically relating to engineering fundamentals across multiple departmentsExperience developing and presenting executive summaries of status to drive decision makingAbility to communicate with project stakeholders and executivesData analysis skillset, including Excel and SQL experienceStrong project management foundation, including project scheduling, budgeting, cost control, and risk managementProficiency in project scheduling software and tools (Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar)Strong understanding of construction methods across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplinesExpertise in cost estimating processes for large-scale manufacturing construction projectsExperienced with Procore, Bluebeam, CAD, and other construction-related softwareADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Occasional travel may be required based on specific projects; travel requirement is up to 15%Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape CanaveralAbility to perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heightsAbility to work extended hours and weekends as neededAbility to remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPEITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
