Licensed Practical Nurse/OPC Scheduler - Caswell Developmental Center

Job Overview The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) employs roughly 17,000 staff and serves the entire state. This Licensed Practical Nurse position is located in the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities at the Caswell Developmental Center—an Eastern Region resource center that provides specialized residential, programmatic, and support services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Job Classification Licensed Practical Nurse (S) – Grade MH07 – Position Number 60053797 Responsibilities Schedule and manage on‑ and off‑campus appointments for residents, including EPIC routing, documentation, transportation coordination, and driver scheduling. Oversee on‑campus Psych, Neuro, and Urology clinics and manage monthly driver logs. Verify and secure prior insurance authorizations for procedures, schedule routine services such as mammograms and bone density scans, and handle rescheduled appointments. Prioritize calls and messages by urgency. Assist with employee health services including workers’ compensation, incident reporting, and vaccinations. Minimum Qualifications Licensed to practice as a Practical Nurse in the state of North Carolina. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of basic nursing skills per the NC Nurse Practice Act for Licensed Practical Nurses. Familiarity with disease processes, prevention measures, medication use, drug interactions, adverse reactions, and routine care for employees and residents. Physical ability to intervene with residents displaying potentially harmful behaviors using CPI training. Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records. Excellent communication and organizational skills for accurate scheduling. Physical Requirements Some bending, stooping, lifting, walking, and stair climbing are required. Must pass CPI and CPR and possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Work Hours & Location Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (hours may vary to accommodate facility needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays). Work site: Outpatient/Employee Health Clinic at the Caswell Developmental Center. Benefits & Compensation Recruitment Range: $41,407.00 – $62,111.00. A sign‑on bonus of $4,000 may be offered, contingent upon 2025‑2026 budget approval.
