Staff Accountant

Position SummaryThe Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, and ensuring financial reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner. This role works closely with finance and operational teams to support business objectives and maintain compliance with accounting policies and procedures.Key ResponsibilitiesGeneral AccountingPrepare and post journal entries.Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.Perform bank, balance sheet, and intercompany reconciliations.Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies.Financial ReportingPrepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.Create ad hoc financial reports and analyses for management.Support external audits and prepare audit schedules.Accounts Payable & Accounts ReceivableAssist with invoice processing and payment activities.Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding payments.Reconcile AP and AR subledgers to the general ledger.Compliance & ControlsEnsure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.Maintain organized financial records and documentation.Support tax filings, regulatory reporting, and internal control initiatives.Special ProjectsParticipate in process improvement initiatives.Assist with system implementations and other finance-related projects as needed.QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.Experience1-3 years of accounting experience preferred.Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.Public accounting internship or experience is a plus.Technical SkillsStrong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.Experience with ERP or accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Sage preferred.Knowledge of GAAP.Desired CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.By submitting to this position, you are agreeing to be included in our talent pool for future hiring for similarly qualified positions.EEO NoticeVaco by Highspring is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race (including but not limited to traits historically associated with race such as hair texture and hair style), color, sex (includes pregnancy or related conditions), religion or creed, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, status as a veteran, union membership, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, political affiliation, or any other protected characteristics as required by federal, state or local law.Vaco by Highspring and its parents, affiliates, and subsidiaries are committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.
