About the Position

Job Title: Correctional Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Correctional Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year of relevant nursing experience License: Nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, MOAB (facility will provide) Must-Have: - MOAB certification required; if not already obtained, a 4-hour de-escalation course will be provided during the first week. - Ability to pass a facility background check. - No local applicants within a 100-mile radius. Description: The Registered Nurse will provide routine and emergency healthcare to patients. The RN will conduct health assessments and make necessary referrals to healthcare providers, including detoxification, dental, and mental health professionals. The RN will be responsible for triaging and assessing new patients to the facility, which includes labs, vitals, and history. Conducting detox rounds per protocol is mandatory. Urgent care and sick calls in the pods are a part of the responsibilities. The facility has an approximate capacity of 1950 inmates, with an average daily population fluctuating between 1640 to 1800. Different areas in the facility may make it difficult to determine the average number of patients seen. The RN may float between Detox, Med/Intake, and behavioral health. Flexibility with scheduling is necessary; weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Special skills required include phlebotomy, IV starts, high flow nasal cannula management, oxygen administration, and isolation precautions. Candidates without corrections experience must have at least 1 year of emergency department experience or 2 years of medical-surgical experience from a busy, large facility. The RN is expected to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including rapid response teams and pharmacy services. Travelers must comply with all requirements and submit necessary documentation in a timely manner.
