Security Officer II

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of guests, employees, assets, and property within the Casino. This includes enforcing all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures while maintaining a visible, professional presence throughout the facility. Security Officers are required to respond to all medical incidents and render aid within the scope of their training, acting swiftly and appropriately to support the health and safety of individuals on property. In addition, they are responsible for thoroughly investigating and accurately documenting all incidents, ensuring detailed and timely reporting in accordance with departmental protocols. Beyond their protective duties, Security Officers are expected to deliver exceptional customer service in alignment with the Tesuque Guest Service Standards, demonstrating courtesy, cultural awareness, and professionalism in every interaction. This role is essential to maintaining a secure, respectful, and welcoming environment and supports the overall mission of the Security Department through integrity, accountability, and operational excellence. Native American preference will be given. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide a secured environment for guests, employees, administration and the general public. Greet customers and create a good first impression. Create relationships with guests that lead to repeat business. Provide a pleasant experience for guests utilizing the Tesuque Guest Service Standards. Protect Casino records, assets, merchandise and equipment. Participate in daily security operations by always being alert and observant. Patrol the Casino on a regular basis either by foot or mobile patrol. Exercise proper currency and escort procedures. Prepare routine incident reports on employees, guests or other related incidents. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Take control of or provide support with emergency situations. Meet the public tactfully and courteously by answering questions in person and over the telephone. Attain and retain working knowledge of Casino’s Internal Controls, Security’s Policies and Procedures, Gaming and interdepartmental policies and procedures. Promote the highest degree of quality customer service, both internally and externally. Promote effective teamwork and communication with supervisors while solving customer complaints. Experience and Education: GED or high school diploma required. Certified first aid/CPR. Must have strong organizational, human relations and decision-making skills. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must be computer-literate. Must have the ability to work in a team environment. Must be creative at problem solving. Must be a self-starter with excellent follow through. Minimum Qualifications Must be able to function successfully in a team environment. Must be able to perform essential security duties to include first aid/CPR. Must be able to work and interact professionally with departments throughout the organization. Must be able to maintain a professional demeanor in a high stress environment. Must be able to work flexible hours including holidays, nights and weekends. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must have the ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be 21 years of age or older. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, and obtain and maintain gaming license from the Pueblo of Tesuque Gaming Commission. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Supervisory Responsibilities: None at this time. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods. The employee occasionally is required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will be required to talk for extended periods and must be able to hear and understand. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to fifty (50) pounds. The work environment includes a variety of settings: food, oils, and cooking surfaces. The incumbent is occasionally exposed to loud noise and change in temperatures. Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a casino setting with exposure to a high noise level. Due to the nature and scope of this position, evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours and irregular shifts will be required.
