Cardiothoracic Surgeon Job Details

• Location: Lima, Ohio (Zip: 45801) - Northwest Ohio cardiac surgery jobs
• Setting: Hospital-based, Level II Trauma Center (cardiac and thoracic surgery)
• Contract Dates: July 9, 2026 - October 8, 2026 (multiple coverage blocks available)
• Shifts: 24-hour call shifts (7am-7am); 10-14 days of call coverage per month
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,150 - $7,280 (locum tenens / travel surgeon pay)
• EMR: EPIC (experience with EPIC EMR preferred)
• Support Staff: 3 Physician Assistants; multidisciplinary OR and ICU teams
• Patient Population: Adult cardiac and thoracic surgery patients

Qualifications & Requirements

• Board Certified (or Board Eligible) in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active Ohio medical license (or ability to obtain state licensure prior to start)
• Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Minimum 1 year of independent practice experience in cardiothoracic surgery
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
• Self-query NPDB within 30 days of presentation
• Availability for all listed coverage dates; locum tenens and travel physician experience a plus

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour on-call coverage for the cardiothoracic surgery service (hospital-based call)
• Perform operative procedures including:
  • Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
  • Arterial revascularization (internal mammary, radial, gastroepiploic arteries)
  • Redo coronary revascularization (with or without valve surgery)
  • Heart valve repair and replacement, including mitral valve repair
  • Pericardial window procedures
• Hospital-based rounding, postoperative management, and critical care coordination
• Collaborate closely with physician assistants, ICU teams, anesthesiology, and multidisciplinary staff
• Document all clinical care and operative notes in EPIC EMR in a timely manner
