About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief of Police to join its dynamic community. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing of comprehensive crime prevention and law enforcement programs, as well as the daily management of the University Police Department. This role involves acting as the principal leader in police operations, ensuring compliance with professional standards, and serving as the critical-incident commander during major emergencies. The Chief of Police will also be involved in community engagement, maintaining relationships with political leaders, and actively participating in university governance and committees. Applicants for the Chief of Police position at the company should have a thorough knowledge of legal issues, law enforcement operations, and related standards. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in a related field, with a graduate or advanced degree being highly desirable, and at least ten years of law enforcement or public safety administration experience, including seven years in a management capacity. Experience in a university-based law enforcement agency or complex organization is preferred. The role requires the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse campus community, a valid California Driver's License, and various law enforcement certifications. The Chief of Police will be expected to ensure the professional development of all personnel within the University Police Department and to contribute to a positive university experience for all students.
