Position Overview Position title: Non‑Senate Lecturer Salary range: The posted UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. See the salary scale: A reasonable estimate for this position is $70,977–$98,249. Percent time: 33% to 67% time (one to two courses). Anticipated start: Positions typically start at the beginning of the semester (mid‑August for Fall Semester; mid‑January for Spring Semester). The Department reviews applications for fall teaching in February and March, for spring teaching in September and October, and for summer in February and March (if applicable). These include (but are not limited to) such courses as: Introduction to Gender and Women’s Studies, Women in American Cultures, Sexual Politics and Queer Organizing, Interpreting the Queer Past, Introduction to Feminist Theories, and Gender Sex and Race in Global Political Cultures. In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and maintaining a course website. Department: Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application): Completion of at least a Master’s degree (or equivalent international degree) by time of application. Additional qualifications (required at start): For those who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a U.S. visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The department is unable to provide a visa/work permit. Preferred qualifications: A Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) and prior teaching experience.
