Childrens Services CoordinatorHaven Family House - Menlo Park, CA 94025Position SummaryThe Children's Services Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for providing a safe and supportive educational environment for children within a homeless family program. CSCs are tasked with managing and evaluating the ACES (Achieving Career and Educational Success) Program (A program developed to complement formal education and rebuild confidence in our learners.) along with providing appropriate services/referrals for children and their families. Children's Services Coordinators also assist in the daily operation of a family site.Position DutiesIntake and AssessmentConduct interviews to assess individual needs of the family to identify special needs and areas of concernAdministration & Site ManagementPrepare and maintain case files, records, program statistics, reports and any other necessary documentation as neededAttend case management meetings, supervision, staff meetings and other meetings as assignedParticipate in standard room/unit checksCoordinate the staging and cleaning of vacant apartmentsMaintain a spreadsheet of apartment maintenance and furniture needsSubmit requests to the appropriate departments (Operations, Facilities, etc.)Additional duties may include: Food Bank pick-up and management of deliveries, supervising large and small donationsShift: Daytime with occasional evenings for programming; flexibleProgram ImplementationCreate an effective learning environment conducive to the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of childrenImplement and oversee the daily ACES children's activities, field trips, and other eventsAssist in the creation of support groups and workshops as needed to address age specific issues and concernsOversee ACES Summer Adventure CampSupervise the ACES Summer Adventure Camp Program Leads and CSC InternsMaintain an inventory of instructional, art, and play materials, as neededCommunity RelationsDevelop and maintain positive relationships with service providers, therapists, volunteers, community partners etc. to maximize resources for children and their familiesLiaise with local schools to track attendance and progress of students in order to provide any special assistance as needed; facilitate enrollment of children in local schoolsAssist families in obtaining childcare within the communityAssist in recruiting, training and supervising children's program volunteersAssist in educating the community about homelessness and the needs of homeless childrenAssist in scheduling workshops, training, etc., for parents and children on relevant topicsQualificationsEducational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required; 2-3 years of consistent equivalent experience in related field may substitute for formal education. Related fields may include direct involvement in peer advocacy, community outreach, housing services or roles within the homelessness services field.Technology: Comfortable using basic technology, including phone and messaging systems, email, Microsoft and Google Suites, and databases to complete administrative tasks.Service Level Qualifications:Care, Respect, Empathy: Willingness and ability to work with people from all backgrounds with care, respect, and empathy.
