Class B CDL Truck Driver – Chesapeake, VA Ryder is hiring a Class B CDL Truck Driver in Chesapeake, VA—offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a driving career you can feel good about. Pay & Benefits Weekly pay: $800 or more Hourly Pay: $22.00 per hour for the first 3 months Paid training Schedule: Monday – Friday, start time 5AM – 6AM Medical, Dental & Vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO your first year, starting Day 1 (use it or get paid for it) Uniforms, cell phone & boot allowance provided 401(k) rollover available now with company match at 1 year 12 weeks paid maternity leave (subject to eligibility criteria) Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more Trucks are 36 months or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and company fuel at 800+ maintenance facilities nationwide Job Details Route: Local Home Daily, within 250 mile radius of Chesapeake, VA (Solo to NC and VA) Tractor Type: 26' straight truck with liftgate Equipment: Electric pallet jack and stair climber; Ryder will train you on all needed equipment Freight: Touch – printers and copiers, office equipment Responsibilities Ensuring compliance with applicable federal/state laws and regulations Detecting, eliminating, or minimizing safety hazards and maintaining accurate records and logs Loading/unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum 21 years of age Pass a Ryder drug test Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years Pass a DOT physicalPass a Ryder road test Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position Experience: Class A or Class B verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle (9 months within past 3 years, OR 2 years within last 5 years, OR 5 years within last 10 years) Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions, read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures Additional Information Approach the job with confidence—Ryder pays unlimited referral bonuses for hired drivers, supports community membership, and offers training and equipment.
