Position Summary: The Interior Design Coordinator will assist in the completion of new construction and renovations by aiding in the design process, procuring furniture, fixtures and equipment. Assists with on campus signage, and design consistency across campus. This position will help develop, schedule, and coordinate interior design specifications and office moves for new and modified college buildings. This role would be a great match for a recent Interior Design graduate or a professional with some interior design experience, somebody who is organized and has strong attention to details. The role will be supervised by Capital Project Manager.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule: Pay rate: $30.88/hour - $42.49/hour. The successful candidate is expected to work 20-25 hours per week on average however when volumes increase this role might go up to 40 hours per week. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $30.88/ hour. This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month.

Essential Functions: Capital Projects Coordination: For new builds or renovations, assist with construction management tasks such as monitoring installations and preparing field notes, preparing correspondence and developing solutions for unforeseen problems such as incorrect deliveries of furniture, incorrect installation of fixtures or equipment, or mis-installed surface finishes. Review contractor's work plan and schedule pre-installation meetings. Conduct pre-occupancy punch list and identify incomplete work, communicate collaboratively with architects, furniture vendors, and internal clients about what needs to be done to create solutions vs. only highlighting a problem. Maintain campus AutoCAD files including revisions of facility drawing/files for all buildings, renovations and site improvements. Update and maintain electronic drawings, both AutoCAD and Sketchup, and any hard-copies as necessary, for all buildings so that they reflect recent interior or exterior renovations and site improvements. Occasionally keep track of State Fixed Asset & Equipment inventory (plotter, reception desk and other valuable fixed assets). Coordinate with AutoCAD files and computerized management maintenance system (CMMS) data. Assist departments in planning: For on-campus office or departmental moves, the employee will proactively communicate with the stakeholders about the scope of planned moves; create understandable schedules; coordinate with Operations staff for the physical move; and oversee the move and installation process until the project is complete. Coordinate employee relocations during campus remodels and new construction projects. Coordinate and lead move planning efforts for the campus before and after construction projects. Maintain furniture request log and procure appropriate furniture per BC standards and department needs. Assist, consult and collaborate with departments with layout or space plans, selection of interior finishes, placement of furniture and related equipment. Design elements: Assist in gathering information necessary for the assigned build-outs, renovations, additions and improvement projects. Document field conditions in electronic drawings such as AutoCAD or Sketchup. Develop interior design concepts for buildings; prepare and plan specifications and color boards including associated preliminary cost estimates to present to department. Schedule and coordinate the preparation of building interiors and installation of decoration, including furnishings, window coverings, floor coverings, paint, hardware and lighting. Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; at least two years of experience as a Space Planner/Designer or equivalent education/experience. Experience managing multiple projects concurrently, tracking deadlines and deliverables, demonstrating organizational and planning skills. Demonstrated communication skills, particularly in communication with stakeholders regarding timelines and required actions. Attention to details. Ability to work on campus.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in interior design or related field; four or more years of related experience. AutoCAD proficiency. Proficiency with reading construction documents, specification sheets, and as built drawings. Knowledge of furniture systems. Project management experience. Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
