Senior AccountantPosition SummaryThe Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting team responsible for executing and supporting the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial results, and maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP. This role performs accounting activities, supports general accounting matters, and partners cross-functionally to deliver timely and insightful financial information. The Senior Accountant also contributes to process improvement initiatives and supports audit and reporting requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Operations & ClosePrepare and post journal entries, ensuring completeness and accuracy in accordance with U.S. GAAPPerform and review account reconciliations, resolving reconciling items timely and accuratelyExecute key components of the month-end close process, including areas requiring judgment and analysisAssist in maintaining and improving close schedules, checklists, and supporting documentationPerform flux analysis and investigate variances compared to prior periods and budgetsSupport preparation of internal financial reports and management reporting packagesSystems, Process Improvement & ControlsSupport accounting systems and tools (e.g., Spectrum, FloQast, Prophix, etc) to enhance reporting efficiencyIdentify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and standardization and work collaboratively with others to execute on theseEnsure adherence to internal control processes and assist in strengthening control documentationMaintain organized, audit-ready schedules and ensure they are accurate and completeAudit & External ReportingSupport annual financial statement audits and other external engagementsPrepare audit schedules upon request in a timely and organized mannerBusiness Partnership & CollaborationCollaborate with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Tax, and OperationsCommunicate accounting results and issues clearlyProvide support on ad hoc analyses, special projects, and strategic initiativesQualificationsEducation & CertificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field requiredCPA or CPA candidate preferredExperience3–6+ years of progressive accounting experiencePublic accounting and/or large company experience preferredTechnical SkillsStrong knowledge of U.S. GAAPExperience with Spectrum, Prophix, FloQast, Microsoft products preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelCore CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsHigh level of attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesEffective written and verbal communication skillsContinuous improvement mindset and adaptabilityEqual Employment OpportunityFarmer Companies is an equal opportunity employer.
