Job Description

This role provides multi-craft maintenance support for two adjacent manufacturing plants, one focused on wood products and the other on glass products. You will perform both preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment, including advanced CNC machinery and automated systems. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on experience with industrial equipment up to 480V 3-phase, and the ability to work independently on 1st shift while collaborating closely with production and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on equipment in both wood and glass manufacturing facilities, ensuring safe and reliable operation.
• Support two adjacent plants by responding to maintenance requests, diagnosing issues, and completing repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical components, including motors, bearings, gears, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase power, sensors, fuses, relays, and contactors, using electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics to identify faults and plan repairs.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems and equipment up to 480V 3-phase in accordance with safety standards and company procedures.
• Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures consistently and correctly during maintenance and repair activities to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance in the wood shop, including complex blade changes on sanders and other equipment, and ensure equipment is cleaned, lubricated, and inspected for wear.
• Conduct preventative maintenance in the glass shop, including cleaning, lubrication, and wear checks on equipment exposed to glass manufacturing processes.
• Troubleshoot and support advanced machinery such as 5-axis mills, CNC mills, sanders with CNC drives, glue applicators, rollers, edging machines, tempering furnaces, ovens, brake presses, and industrial washers.
• Perform PLC troubleshooting by understanding PLC operation, identifying issues, swapping sensors, and performing resets as needed.
• Use welding and fabrication skills, when applicable, to support repairs and create temporary or permanent solutions to keep equipment operational while awaiting parts.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and other maintenance personnel to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately and promptly.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while taking initiative to identify and resolve issues.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including wearing required personal protective equipment such as steel toe boots with metatarsal guards in designated areas.
• Work 1st shift hours and participate in limited overtime as needed, including partial Fridays dedicated to preventative maintenance when production is not running.

Essential Skills

• 7–10+ years of multi-craft industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience performing preventative maintenance on production equipment, including complex tasks such as full blade changes on wood shop sanders and thorough cleaning, lubrication, and wear checks in glass shop equipment.
• Proven mechanical troubleshooting experience with motors, bearings, gears, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Proven electrical troubleshooting experience, including reading and interpreting electrical schematics and working with 480V 3-phase systems, sensors, fuses, relays, and contactors.
• Demonstrated ability to apply lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures consistently and safely during maintenance activities.
• PLC troubleshooting experience, including understanding PLC functions, recognizing how they control equipment, swapping sensors, and performing system resets.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Good attitude and a team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to collaborate and support coworkers.
• Punctuality, reliability, and a strong sense of ownership over assigned tasks and equipment.
• Coachability and openness to feedback, with a willingness to adapt and continuously improve.
• Willingness to wear steel toe boots with metatarsal guards in required areas.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• PLC editing and programming experience, particularly with commonly used platforms such as Allen-Bradley and Siemens (or similar).
• Welding and fabrication skills to develop creative repair solutions and temporary fixes while waiting for replacement parts.
• Previous maintenance experience in glass manufacturing facilities.
• Previous maintenance experience in wood manufacturing facilities.
• Interest in continuing education and manufacturer-specific training on specialized machinery such as edgebanders and other production equipment.

Work Environment

The role is based in two adjacent facilities: a wood manufacturing plant and a glass manufacturing plant. Both facilities are large, clean, well-organized, and feature a significant level of automation, including advanced CNC machinery, 5-axis mills, and various specialized production lines. You will work on 1st shift, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and on Fridays from approximately 4:00–5:00 a.m. to 8:00–9:00 a.m., with minimal overtime averaging around five hours per week when needed. Friday hours are often dedicated to preventative maintenance when production is not running. The environment requires consistent adherence to safety practices, including the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toe boots with metatarsal guards in the glass shop. You will work around automated equipment, furnaces, ovens, brake presses, industrial washers, sanders, and CNC-driven systems, using both company-provided tools and any personal tools you prefer to bring, in a setting that emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and efficient workflow.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
