Join Our Team Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero is looking for an Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. Located steps away from Union Square, the Ferry Building and Fisherman’s Wharf, with guests staying in the top 11 floors of the 48‑story landmark, we pride ourselves on delivering customized, unforgettable service. We are looking for individuals with not only the right skills but also the right attitude for the role. Essential Functions Train, evaluate, motivate, coach, and discipline employees in the F&B operations to ensure cultural and core standards are met and to perform daily outlet operations. Work closely with the department manager, assist with managing the operation, and provide feedback to team members. Show flexibility to work in different departments as needed while following all required standards. Be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts. Answer telephone calls using courteous, efficient etiquette while obtaining all information necessary to process the guest’s order according to Four Seasons Standards, describing menu items with vivid, interesting descriptions of origin, taste, and preparation. Coordinate delivery of items to the guest room by IRD servers in a timely manner to ensure proper food quality. Properly and accurately close guest checks; record guest charges and gratuities. Oversee the amenity program to ensure amenities are delivered accurately and timely. Communicate guest orders, including any special needs, to the kitchen via the hotel’s point‑of‑sales system, and verify completed kitchen orders with the guest’s original order. Control labor expenses through effective scheduling and inventory control while focusing on creative revenue‑generation solutions to maximize profit. Anticipate guest needs, ascertain satisfaction, and offer suggestions, responding urgently and appropriately to guest concerns and requests. Build and nurture relationships with regular guests as well as cultivate relationships with new patrons to increase loyalty as a key business driver. Describe and ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, and provide knowledge of wine and spirits in an elegantly appointed environment for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Communicate with employees and managers to ensure operational needs are met and attend regular operational meetings for effective coordination between departments. Properly and accurately close guest checks, process cash and credit card payments, and settle voided checks or complimentary meals. Work harmoniously and professionally with all hotel team members, guests, and clients. Comply with Four Seasons’ Category One and Category Two Work Rules and Standards of Conduct as set forth in EmPact. Non‑Essential Functions Assist with the service of food to guests. Assist in making dining reservations and seating guests. Assist with the cleaning of operational areas. Assist with taking food orders. Plate and prepare food items. Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by management. Assist with responsibilities and duties in the absence of or due to heavy volume in other Food & Beverage areas when needed. Knowledge and Skills Flexible with schedule – able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, evening/overnight shifts. Working knowledge of division operations as well as Four Seasons cultural and core standards, policies, and SOPs. Prior experience leading a team within luxury food & beverage/hospitality operations. Knowledge of food & beverage service, cost control, labor control, maintenance, merchandising, and accounting. Ability to multi‑task in a high‑volume, demanding environment. Ability to operate computer equipment and other food & beverage computer systems. Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to handle difficult situations and guests. Proficient in English (speaking, reading, writing). Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Work authorization in the United States required.
