Commercial Construction Accountant

National construction firm TI Builders is currently searching for a Commercial Construction Accountant. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, dependable and able to support core administrative and accounting functions daily. This role will handle routine financial tasks and general administrative duties to ensure smooth day-to-day operations across the company. Core Accounting Responsibilities (Must-Have Experience) Prepare and post standard journal entries, including payroll, accruals, and recurring expenses Participate in month-end close activities, including reconciliations and WIP adjustments Create AR invoices, review Schedules of Values (SOVs), and collaborate with Project Managers on monthly billing Maintain budgets, contracts, and WIP over/under revenue Prepare and distribute weekly AP reports to Project Managers Code and review corporate credit card transactions Support AR collections and client follow-ups File monthly sales tax returns Assist with annual 1099 preparation Record recurring insurance expenses and reconcile related accounts Support intercompany transactions and shared costs Payroll Responsibilities Prepare payroll inputs including timecards, reimbursements, mileage, and per diem Enter bi-weekly and monthly payroll journal entries into Sage Administrative & Operational Responsibilities (Required) Actively manage and triage the shared Accounting/Admin inbox, determining ownership and urgency Complete credit applications and compliance documentation Maintain user access across systems (Office, Sage, Dropbox, etc.) Assist with insurance renewals, workers’ comp filings, and audits Review and track pre-liens and other compliance documents Maintain state filings, annual reports, and business licenses. Note: This role requires comfort wearing multiple hats. Candidates seeking a purely accounting-only position are not a fit. Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable) 3–5+ years of recent, hands‑on accounting experience (not primarily AP or office administration) Demonstrated experience with journal entries, debits/credits, and month-end close Strong Excel proficiency, including formulas Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines Comfortable supporting both accounting and administrative functions Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance Construction or project-based accounting experience Experience with WIP, sales tax filings, 1099s, insurance audits, and payroll accounting Who Will Succeed in This Role Accountants who enjoy owning their work, not just assisting Professionals comfortable with varied responsibilities and interruptions Detail-oriented, dependable, and proactive problem solvers Candidates with a clear interest in accounting Please see job description for detailed list. #J-18808-Ljbffr Edge Case Research, Inc
