Contracts Specialist

Position Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Contracts Specialist to support the negotiation, administration, and coordination of contracts and subcontracts across all sectors of our work. This role requires a solid understanding of FAR/DFARS regulations, contract lifecycle processes, and experience working closely with proposal and engineering teams to support technical project delivery. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at balancing legal, business, and client priorities in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment. Responsibilities Administer a variety of contract types including prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, NDAs, MSAs, and teaming agreements. Ensure company compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS). Support proposal efforts by reviewing RFPs, identifying risks, and ensuring contractual alignment with pricing, scope, and deliverables. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and leadership to ensure contract terms are clearly defined and technically achievable. Coordinate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to establish terms, resolve contract issues, and manage expectations. Conduct proper due diligence for all procurement requests, including but not limited to, vetting potential vendors and subcontractors, and conducting detailed cost and price analysis in accordance with established IE Group, federal, and industry compliance standards prior to issuance of Purchase Orders, Change Orders, Subcontracts and Agreements. Maintain approved vendor list. Ensure obligations accepted under prime/client contracts are appropriately flowed down to subcontractors and vendors. Monitor contract milestones, obligations, renewals, and modifications; maintain accurate records and version control. Provide guidance on contract risks, compliance issues, and change order processes. Support vendor and procurement functions for large-scale purchasing agreements, ensuring alignment with contract terms. Assist with internal process improvements related to contract management and documentation. Education and Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in a contracts role, preferably with a firm supporting federal or technical projects. Proven experience managing both prime and subcontract agreements in compliance-heavy environments. Familiarity with engineering project workflows and deliverables is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and federal procurement practices is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, clients, and vendors. High level of organization, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management tools. Type: Full-Time Location: On-site in Knoxville, TN (Hybrid flexibility available after onboarding) Travel: Rare; Less than 10% Clearance: Preferred, not required.
