We are a small, established psychiatry practice seeking an experienced and self-motivated Medical Biller / Office Coordinator to join our team. This is a 30-hour-per-week position with the flexibility of primarily remote work and approximately one day per week in our office .

Our practice consists of one psychiatrist and one physician assistant. We have two full-time virtual assistants who handle patient calls, referrals, pharmacy communication, scheduling-related communication, and virtual check-in. This allows the person in this role to focus primarily on medical billing, insurance-related tasks, accounts receivable, and practice operations rather than serving as a traditional front-desk receptionist.

We are looking for someone who is experienced, organized, dependable, and comfortable working independently. The ideal candidate will take ownership of their responsibilities, identify issues before they become problems, and be able to manage their workload without extensive day-to-day supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage medical billing and claims submission for the practice
• Review claims, identify and resolve billing issues and denials
• Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and accounts receivable
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits as needed
• Post payments and reconcile accounts
• Handle insurance authorizations and other insurance-related administrative tasks as needed
• Assist with patient billing questions and account issues
• Maintain accurate billing and patient account records
• Coordinate with clinicians and virtual assistants regarding billing or administrative issues
• Assist with general practice operations and administrative tasks
• Help identify opportunities to improve office workflows and efficiency
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and practice policies
• Monitor, track, and provide billing and insurance issues and trends reports to clinical practice owner monthly and quarterly

Qualifications

• Prior medical billing experience required (recommend 5 years minimum)
• Experience with psychiatric/behavioral health billing is strongly preferred
• Experience with managing and resolving insurance claims, denials, eligibility, authorizations, and accounts receivable
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
• Comfortable working remotely with limited direct supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and common office software
• Dependable, proactive, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities

Schedule & Work Environment

• 30 hours per week
• Primarily remote
• Approximately one day per week in our office

Compensation & Benefits

• $27–$30/hour , depending on experience and qualifications
