Support a vibrant learning environment by making a genuine impact as a dedicated paraprofessional working 1:1 with an 8th-grade student. This contract position, with immediate start and running through June 11, places you at a welcoming middle school near Hartford, CT. You'll work weekdays from 7:30 am to 2:40 pm (30-minute unpaid lunch), ensuring consistency and stability for a student who will truly benefit from your presence.
Your expertise in supporting young people, especially those exhibiting behavioral challenges, is essential for helping this student gain confidence and thrive both academically and socially. You’ll be valued as an important contributor within a collaborative school culture and receive the support needed for personal and professional growth.
Desired Background:
- Paraprofessional skills and relevant classroom experience
- Preferably experienced in working directly with students managing behavioral issues
- Completion (or willingness to complete) all required state trainings
- Reliable, empathetic, and proactive approach to student support
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Commitment to maintaining a positive, structured environment
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct, individualized support to an assigned 8th-grade student throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to reinforce academic and behavioral goals
- Participate in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans
- Maintain documentation of student progress and observations as needed
- Foster a safe, respectful, and encouraging atmosphere for student growth
- Communicate effectively with staff and administration as part of a committed educational team
