Solid Machines is looking for an experienced, hands-on Field Service Technician to service commercial fitness equipment and other mechanical/electrical systems throughout the Sacramento area.

This is a field-based position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, repairing equipment, working independently, and traveling between customer locations throughout the day.

The role is primarily focused on diagnosing and repairing commercial fitness equipment, recovery and wellness equipment, and other mechanical or electrical systems. Some light facility-related work may occasionally be involved, but this is primarily an equipment service position.

Previous fitness equipment experience is helpful, but not required. We can train the right person on the fitness equipment side if they already have strong mechanical, electrical, appliance, or field-service experience.

Our ideal candidate has professional hands-on experience in equipment repair, appliance repair, electromechanical service, industrial equipment, commercial field service, maintenance, or a similar troubleshooting-based role.

Responsibilities

• Travel to commercial customer locations throughout the Sacramento area
• Diagnose and repair commercial fitness equipment
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment problems
• Replace motors, belts, bearings, cables, switches, sensors, control boards, and other components
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections
• Service recovery and wellness equipment such as hydro massage units, tanning equipment, saunas, cold plunge systems, and similar equipment
• Identify failed components and determine parts needed for repair
• Order or request parts and return to complete repairs when necessary
• Document work performed, photos, parts needed, and job status using a mobile service system
• Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and facility managers
• Explain repair findings and next steps when needed
• Maintain company tools, parts, and service vehicle
• Manage assigned service calls efficiently throughout the day
• Follow assigned schedules and complete service tickets consistently
• Perform occasional light facility or general maintenance tasks when needed

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience in equipment repair, appliance repair, field service, electromechanical repair, industrial maintenance, commercial service, or similar hands-on technical work
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Comfortable diagnosing both mechanical and basic electrical problems
• Comfortable using multimeters, hand tools, and power tools
• Able to read basic wiring diagrams, schematics, or service documentation
• Able to work independently in the field after training
• Comfortable traveling between customer locations throughout the workday
• Strong time management and ability to stay on schedule
• Reliable attendance and consistent follow-through
• Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for service documentation
• Professional communication with customers and facility staff
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
• Able to perform the physical duties associated with equipment service and repair

Experience with fitness equipment is helpful, but not required.

About the Position

This role is a good fit for someone who enjoys working independently, solving technical problems, and moving between different customer locations throughout the day.

You may diagnose a treadmill in the morning, repair a strength machine later in the day, and troubleshoot a wellness or mechanical system at another location in the afternoon.

We are looking for someone who can look at a problem, troubleshoot it logically, and take ownership of getting the equipment back in service.
