This role manages the day-to-day financial recordkeeping required to support the organization's rapidly growing food rescue operations. By maintaining accurate accounts payable and receivable records, reconciling operational data, and supporting funder compliance, this role enables leadership to make data-driven decisions and ensures transparency for donors, partners, and community organizations.Responsibilities IncludeOwn the accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong internal controls across all financial systems.Oversee the reconciliation and validation of all bank and credit card activity, maintaining an accurate, up-to-date financial environment that supports informed decision-making.Assist with monthly and annual financial close processes.Reconcile logistics and operational data from Sharing Excess's proprietary systems with financial invoices, resolving discrepancies in collaboration with the operations team.Manage partner billing for services and deliveries, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and strong partner communication.Monitor aging reports and follow up professionally on overdue accounts to maintain healthy cash flow and partner accountability.Track restricted grant expenditures and maintain the documentation required to uphold compliance standards and satisfy funder reporting requirements.Maintain a structured digital financial archive that supports audit readiness, organizational transparency, and efficient cross-team collaboration.Serve as a point of contact for operational finance questions and requests from internal and external stakeholders.You'll HaveBachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.1–3 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping.Proficiency with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software.Strong experience with Excel or Google Sheets, including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups.Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.It's Amazing If You Also HaveExperience working in a nonprofit organization.Exposure to logistics, operations, or supply chain environments.Familiarity with grant tracking or restricted fund reporting.You'll Be Successful IfYou are highly detail-oriented and comfortable working with large volumes of financial data.You can work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.You have strong organizational and documentation skills that keep records audit-ready.You communicate clearly with both finance and operations teams.You are motivated by mission-driven work and enjoy supporting systems that enable large-scale impact.Compensation & Schedule$60,000 – $70,000 per yearFull-time, approximately 40 hours per week.Hybrid schedule based in Philadelphia, with 1 day per week in the office.Benefits & PerksMedical, dental, and vision coverage, with Sharing Excess covering 100% of the employee-only premium for the Bronze HSA medical plan.*401(k) with company match.*Self-managed (unlimited) paid time off.*13 paid company holidays each year, including 4 floating holidays.Cool merch.Flexible scheduling.*Subject to eligibility requirements and plan terms; medical coverage and paid time off begin after 90 days of employment.Equal OpportunitySharing Excess is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
