Role Description The Junior Accountant is a hybrid accounting and financial analysis role responsible for managing and carrying out the daily Accounts Receivable function while supporting financial reporting and business analysis for internal and external stakeholders. This position combines hands-on transaction processing, customer account management, reconciliations, and credit/collection support with preparation of reports, schedules, and analytical insights that help management monitor performance and make informed business decisions. Manage and perform the daily Accounts Receivable function, including invoicing, cash application, customer account maintenance, credit memos, customer statements, account research, and discrepancy resolution. Monitor and manage customer collections, aging balances, credit exposure, credit limits, payment terms, account holds, and dispute follow-up in coordination with sales, operations, and management. Prepare, analyze, and distribute Accounts Receivable, collections, sales, margin, backlog, cash flow, and other financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders as needed. Provide business analysis by reviewing trends, variances, customer account activity, profitability drivers, and operational performance indicators; highlight risks, opportunities, and follow-up items. Prepare and post general ledger journal entries with appropriate documentation and support. Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts; investigate and resolve variances promptly. Support month-end and year-end close, including accruals, account analysis, schedules Assist with financial statements, management reporting, audit requests, documentation, and special projects requiring financial data gathering and analysis. Maintain accurate records, support internal controls, improve reporting and AR processes where practical, and provide backup support for other accounting functions. Key Performance Expectations Manage daily Accounts Receivable activities accurately, timely, and proactively, with clear ownership of customer account follow-up and issue resolution. Reduce past-due balances, support healthy credit practices, and communicate collection or credit risks clearly and promptly. Deliver reliable financial reports, reconciliations, schedules, and analysis by required deadlines for management, auditors, customers, banks, or other external stakeholders as applicable. Identify meaningful trends, variances, risks, and opportunities and present findings in a clear, practical, and business-focused manner. Maintain strong attention to detail, confidentiality, professionalism, and follow-through while balancing recurring AR work with reporting and analysis priorities. Aptitudes and Abilities Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage daily transaction deadlines while also completing reporting and analysis assignments. Strong analytical judgment, curiosity, and problem-solving ability; able to connect accounting details to broader business impacts. Education / Training Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. 2-3 years of accounting experience required, including Accounts Receivable, journal entries, and reconciliations. Skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups Proficient with ERP or accounting systems and comfortable extracting, validating, reconciling, and presenting financial data.
