Lactation Consultant II – Part Time Days Work location: Texas Health Rockwall – 3150 Horizon Rd, Rockwall, TX 75032. Work hours: Part Time, 24 hours weekly, day schedule varies based on needs as (2) 12‑hour shifts or (3) 8‑hour shifts, self‑scheduling, holidays and weekend requirements. Training: Must be able to attend training at the corporate office in Arlington 8am‑5pm during the first 1‑5 days of hire. Requirements Associate’s degree in Nursing required or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred. 1 year experience as a registered nurse, completion of an RN residency program, or THR residency program required. 1 year of Lactation experience strongly preferred; Mother/Baby experience helpful. Texas RN – Registered Nurse required upon hire. BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care required upon hire and maintained quarterly. NRP – Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire. IBCLC – Lactation Consultant required within 2 years of hire; strongly preferred upon hire. A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians. Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence. Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care. Collapses with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care. Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding. Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems. Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center.
