Tax Director, Americas
The Tax Director, Americas is responsible for leading the execution of tax compliance, tax accounting, tax risk management, and regional tax planning activities across the America Medical Services Group Companies, including operations in the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
Working in close partnership with the Group Tax Director and Global Tax Team, this role provides regional tax leadership and ensures the implementation of Group tax policies, standards, and strategies throughout the Americas region. The Tax Director serves as the primary tax advisor to regional finance and business leadership, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, effective management of tax risks, accurate tax reporting under U.S. GAAP and IFRS, and alignment of regional tax activities with broader corporate objectives.
Given the significance of the U.S. business, the role requires extensive expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local taxation while maintaining oversight of tax matters across the broader Americas region.
This is a hybrid role based out of our Houston office. Monday to Friday 8 am until 5 pm with Thursdays and Fridays as work from home days. Travel within US and Canada required.
Key Responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting • Direct and oversee all tax compliance activities across the Americas region, including U.S. federal, state, and local income tax filings, international reporting obligations, estimated tax payments, withholding tax compliance, and oversight of tax filings in Latin America and other applicable jurisdictions. • Ensure all tax returns, elections, disclosures, and related filings are completed accurately and timely through effective management of internal resources and external service providers. • Maintain oversight of the regional tax compliance calendar and ensure compliance with all statutory filing and reporting deadlines. • Oversee the quality, integrity, and completeness of tax-related data used in compliance, reporting, and financial statement preparation. • Manage and evaluate the performance of external tax advisors and compliance providers to ensure efficient, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of compliance and advisory services.
Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting • Own and oversee quarterly and annual income tax accounting and reporting processes for the Americas region, including compliance with ASC 740 (U.S. GAAP) and IAS 12 (IFRS). • Direct the preparation and review of current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analyses, uncertain tax positions, tax account reconciliations, and tax-related financial statement disclosures. • Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual tax provision reporting and timely communication of tax impacts to finance leadership. • Support forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning activities related to tax expense, cash taxes, and effective tax rate management. • Partner with regional finance teams and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits and coordinate responses to tax-related audit inquiries.
International Tax & Transfer Pricing • Support and advise on international tax matters impacting the Americas region, including inbound investment structures, cross-border transactions, withholding taxes, transfer pricing, and treaty application. • Assist in maintaining tax-efficient and compliant intercompany structures, financing arrangements, and operational models consistent with Group tax policies. • Ensure implementation and compliance with Group transfer pricing policies across the Americas region. • Oversee maintenance of transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements in coordination with legal counsel, finance leadership, and the Global Tax Team. • Monitor international tax developments and assess regional implications for the business.
Tax Planning & Strategic Initiatives • Support regional and global tax planning initiatives designed to improve tax efficiency while maintaining compliance with applicable laws and regulations. • Lead Americas tax due diligence activities and provide regional tax input for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings, and other strategic transactions. • Evaluate tax implications of new business initiatives, contractual arrangements, legal entity structures, financing arrangements, and operational changes. • Collaborate with finance, legal, treasury, and business leadership to ensure tax considerations are appropriately addressed in strategic decision-making. • Provide recommendations regarding business structures and transactions that balance operational objectives, compliance requirements, and tax efficiency.
Tax Audits & Tax Authority Relations • Lead and manage tax examinations, audits, inquiries, and controversy matters involving federal, state, local, and international tax authorities within the Americas region. • Coordinate audit responses and resolution strategies in partnership with the Group Tax Director, external advisors, and regional leadership as appropriate. • Maintain productive working relationships with tax authorities, external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service providers. • Ensure timely resolution of tax disputes and minimize financial and operational exposure.
Business Partnership • Partner with regional finance leadership to assess tax impacts of business decisions and communicate tax matters in a clear, practical, and commercially focused manner. • Translate complex tax regulations into actionable business recommendations for executive leadership. • Provide tax guidance on commercial contracts, operational structures, treasury activities, expatriate matters, indirect taxes, and other business initiatives. • Collaborate closely with the Global Tax Team, Finance, Legal, Treasury, and Operational Leaders to support business growth while maintaining compliance and effective risk management.
