Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with NICU and adult critical care experience for a night shift position at a Level II Trauma Center acute care hospital.

Details

• Short-term acute care hospital setting at a Level II Trauma Center with 431 staffed beds
• Primary assignment in the NICU, with rotation requirements to the adult ICU, stepdown units, ED, and pediatric unit based on facility needs
• NICU assignments vary based on patient acuity — this is not a NICU-only position
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend required, plus every other holiday
• On-call required: 3 shifts per 6-week scheduling period
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager's discretion
• Charting via Epic
• Wine-colored scrubs required

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
• Active VA state license required; proof of VA license application submitted alongside another state license (non-national) may be accepted for consideration — license required if applicable
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required (ACLS may be pending at start with 90-day window to obtain)
• CRTT certification required
• NRP preferred; RRT credential preferred
• Adult critical care, ER, and community hospital experience required
• Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABG draw and analysis, O2 therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizers
• NICU, ED, and adult ICU experience preferred, though experience in all areas is not required
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years
• Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include providing aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies, as well as CPAP/BiPAP implementation and management in adult and neonatal intensive care and ED environments
• Attendance at monthly department meetings is expected when scheduled; if not working, candidate must review meeting minutes and send written acknowledgment to management
