Safety Manager

DescriptionWeyerhaeuser is searching for a Safety Manager located in Natchitoches, LA. This role will support the Natchitoches Engineered Wood Products manufacturing site and will report to the Mill Manager, with responsibilities to the Regional Safety Manager.As the Natchitoches Safety Manager, you will provide leadership, coordination, and technical expertise in all areas of safety, health, and industrial hygiene compliance to achieve operational excellence. The Safety Manager will have the accountability for establishing reliable methods for improving safety performance and nourishing a culture in which safety is an overriding value in all activities, and every associate assumes accountability for safety initiatives and expectations. This role also ensures the mill is in compliance with OSHA regulatory expectations in addition to business and Company guidelines and initiatives.Key FunctionsThe essence of this role requires a highly motivated, people-oriented person for the proactive, practical application of safety commitment to the operation and to the day-to-day behaviors of all associates. This individual will provide leadership in developing, implementing, and managing safety policies, procedures, practices, and projects.Accountabilities may include, but are not limited to:Responds to & participates in the investigation of safety incidents and interacts with the designated Emergency Response TeamDevelops an effective communication process to make safety priorities and performance visible Coaches and works with mill leadership to be a visible role model of incident prevention and safe work practicesProvides technical support for on-going problem solving and safety investigationsEnsures systems are in place for an effective safety program while maintaining compliance with regulatory/corporate guidelines, applicable record keeping, reporting, safety statistics and trend analysisServes as a primary contact for all corporate & regulatory agency requests and inquiriesInvolves & engages associates in developing an associate-driven safety program, to include safety processes and performance measuresProvides leadership to safety steering team Provides on-the-floor safety coaching and recognitionQualificationsHigh School Diploma/General Education Degree (GED) with a minimum of 6 years Safety/Environmental Manager experience OR Associate’s Degree with minimum 4 years Safety/Environmental Manager experience OR Bachelor’s Degree or higher with minimum 1 year Safety/Environmental Manager experience Passion for safety as demonstrated by a strong commitment to associate safety Understands safety compliance auditing process and ability to complete an internal audit/review Technical expertise in safety to include regulatory requirements, OSHA record keeping, workers compensation, and industrial hygiene regulations Experience in Safety Incident Investigations Knowledge of chemical and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) systems management Ability to develop and effectively deliver safety training Project management skills to include the ability to develop and implement safety processes Strong, engaging, people-centered leadership style Proactive, assertive and ability to work with a sense of urgency Ability to plan, prioritize and work under pressure and meet deadlines Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of health & safety programs High level of integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment, and problem-solving skills The following qualifications are preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental or Occupational Safety Knowledge of site operation processes Safety & industrial hygiene certification and/or trainingAbout WeyerhaeuserWe sustainably manage forests and manufacture products that make the world a better place. We want you to choose us. What We Offer:Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $90,200-$135,500 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay.
