Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized HR Generalist to support the day-to-day Human Resources needs of our growing multi-state wireless retail organization. This position will partner closely with store managers, district/regional leadership, and corporate teams to provide HR support throughout the employee lifecycle.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for employee relations, performance management, payroll and benefits administration, leave management, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, compliance, and HR recordkeeping. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment and managing a high volume of employee matters across multiple locations and states.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations & Performance Management

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees and retail management regarding workplace concerns, policies, attendance, performance, and employee relations matters.
• Provide guidance to managers regarding coaching, corrective action, performance improvement, and policy enforcement.
• Conduct and document workplace investigations involving employee complaints, harassment, discrimination, misconduct, policy violations, and other employee relations concerns.
• Partner with HR leadership on disciplinary actions and terminations.
• Assist managers in maintaining consistent and appropriate documentation of performance and conduct issues.
• Conduct exit interviews and identify trends that may impact employee retention.
• Promote consistent application of company policies across retail locations.

Payroll & HRIS Administration

• Support payroll processing and review employee data for accuracy.
• Process employee changes, including terminations, compensation changes, promotions, transfers, and status changes.
• Review timekeeping and payroll discrepancies and work with management to resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate employee information within the HRIS.
• Maintain personnel files and required employment documentation.
• Provide employees and managers with assistance navigating HR and payroll systems.
• Assist with payroll audits and reconciliation as needed.

Benefits Administration

• Administer employee health and welfare benefits and serve as a resource for employee benefit questions.
• Process benefit enrollments, changes, and qualifying life events.
• Support annual Open Enrollment activities.
• Assist with 401(k) administration and employee inquiries.
• Coordinate with benefit brokers and carriers to resolve enrollment and coverage issues.
• Maintain accurate benefit records and ensure timely processing of employee changes.

Leave & Accommodation Administration

• Administer and track employee leaves, including FMLA, state-mandated leave programs, paid family and medical leave, and company leaves, as applicable.
• Review employee eligibility and maintain required leave documentation.
• Coordinate reasonable accommodation requests in accordance with applicable disability laws.
• Coordinate religious accommodation requests.
• Communicate leave requirements, documentation needs, and return-to-work expectations to employees and managers.
• Maintain confidential medical and leave documentation.

Workers’ Compensation & Unemployment

• Coordinate workers’ compensation claims, including reporting workplace injuries and maintaining required documentation.
• Communicate with employees, managers, insurance carriers, and claims administrators regarding open claims.
• Monitor workers’ compensation claims and assist with return-to-work coordination.
• Respond to unemployment claims and requests for supporting documentation.
• Prepare documentation for unemployment hearings and participate as needed.
• Maintain records related to claims, separations, and disciplinary actions.

Compliance & HR Operations

• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states.
• Maintain required personnel records and ensure HR documentation is complete and properly retained.
• Assist with wage-and-hour, attendance, paid sick leave, meal/rest period, and other state-specific compliance requirements.
• Support internal HR audits and respond to requests for employee documentation.
• Assist with development, communication, and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
• Monitor completion of required employment and compliance training.
• Prepare HR reports and maintain employee data as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information at all times.

Experience supporting a high-volume, multi-state retail workforce is strongly preferred. Experience within wireless retail, telecommunications, consumer electronics, or another commission-based retail environment is a plus.

The successful HR Generalist will be responsive, organized, approachable, and comfortable operating in an environment where priorities can change quickly. This individual will balance employee support with business needs while helping ensure HR practices are consistent, well-documented, and compliant across the organization.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 3–5+ years of Human Resources experience , preferably supporting a multi-location retail, wireless, hospitality, or similarly fast-paced workforce.
• SPHR certification highly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with employee relations, investigations, payroll, benefits, leave administration, workers’ compensation, and unemployment claims.
• Experience supporting employees in multiple states strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR best practices.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and handle sensitive employee matters professionally and confidentially.
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with HR and field leadership.

Pay: $82,000 - $90,000/annually
Expected Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week
