In this position you will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the Banquets / Events Department such as ensuring the quality of food, beverage and service delivery in a coordinated detail ambiance.Work RequirementsProvide strategic direction for the banquetAdvise Associates of formal policies and proceduresResponsible for participation in the recruitment and leading the training, and overall management of the teamsManaging the banquet space, including organizing and storageDeveloping and implementing all Banquet Beverage ControlsCoordinate with supervisors and staff with banquet needs such as food, banquet equipment, tables, chairs, etc.Oversee maintenance of all banquet equipment, function spaces and cleanliness of all banquet areas.Maintain inventory and maintenance on all props and enhancements as well as any other equipment needs such as linen and uniforms.Manage vendor and customer relationsDevelop and update banquet and event food and beverage policies and procedures and provide updates to staffPrimary liaison with key client contact at all banquet functionsEnsure all operating procedures are followed, identify and correct any organizational problems that impact the effectiveness of the operationHandle all guest concerns in a prompt and courteous manner, informing catering /events manager of issue and resolutionWork closely with banquet chef to coordinate food presentation and delivery timesFlexible and energetic personality with the ability to handle multiple events simultaneouslyConduct banquet and facility tours with Engineering and Housekeeping teams to ensure that the space is maintained to the highest level of cleanliness and any deficiencies are resolved immediatelyAttend all pre-event and post-event meeting with clients, guests, and catering/events teamPromote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departmentsPerform other duties/tasks and projects as assignedQualificationsMinimum of 2 years of experience in banquet management role at a major propertyExtensive knowledge of food service and banquet equipment requirementsExtensive knowledge about all health and safety regulationsAbility to perform all duties of Banquet staffMust have a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays.Must be able to bend, push, pull, lift and stand up to 8 hours.Good computer skills including Word and ExcelFluency in English both verbal and non-verbalDemonstrate strong initiative and self-directionThe Galt House Hotel offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, 401k, a complimentary meal in the associate cafeteria, complimentary parking, a discounted monthly TARC bus pass and much more.The Galt House Hotel is a Drug Free Workplace, creating a culture of care where diversity is welcomed.
