Compensation: $15–$18 per hour (approximately 25 hours per week) + expense reimbursement

Position Summary

\n

The primary function of the Site Coordinator is to coordinate the program's students, parents, and teaching artists while classes are being held.

\n

The Site Coordinator and Site Manager are responsible for daily chapter operations during classes, typically held in the late afternoons and evenings.

\n

The Site Coordinator works closely with the Site Manager and Miami Music Project office staff to support all operational and programmatic needs and ensure the chapter is fully prepared.

\n

Efficiency, attention to detail, flexibility, multitasking abilities, a positive attitude, and sound judgment are essential for ensuring smooth operations.

\n

The Site Coordinator reports to the Site Manager and Director of Program Operations and works closely with all chapter program constituents.

\n

Availability is required on all scheduled class and concert days, including some evenings and weekends.

\n

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

\n

• Coordinate logistical components of the program on-site during classes, educational activities, and ensemble performances.

\n

• Collaborate with the Site Manager to develop local student recruitment and retention plans.

\n

• Collect daily student attendance and prepare monthly attendance reports.

\n

• Work with the Site Manager to build strong relationships with families and maintain consistent communication with parents regarding students.

\n

• Work effectively with teachers, volunteers, and location providers to maintain clear communication and efficient program operations.

\n

• Assist the Site Manager in enforcing rules and procedures for students and teaching artists.

\n

• Help maintain accurate inventory and database records of on-site resources, including musical instruments, educational materials, sheet music, supplies, and teaching tools.

\n

• Coordinate volunteer rosters for daily chapter needs and special events.

\n

• Create, organize, and update files and records.

\n

• Distribute, collect, and file all student paperwork.

\n

• Provide support at the Miami Music Project main office for larger projects outside the chapter location.

\n

• Report student behavioral challenges and maintain appropriate behavioral documentation.

\n

• Travel between the assigned chapter and Miami Music Project's main office at least twice per week for office hours.

\n

• Demonstrate flexibility in assisting with other operational roles when necessary, including bus assistant or security assistant duties.

\n

• Oversee daily site operations before, during, and after programming.

\n

Qualifications and Desired Skills

\n

• Strong commitment to the El Sistema philosophy and the mission of Miami Music Project.

\n

• Ability to provide attentive supervision, promote a safe and nurturing environment for children, and ensure smooth execution of program activities.

\n

• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines while balancing multiple daily responsibilities.

\n

• Basic knowledge of musical instruments, classical music, music theory, or music culture preferred.

\n

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including diplomacy and sound judgment in a diverse environment.

\n

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

\n

• DCF training required within the first 90 days of employment to ensure compliance with licensing standards.

\n

• CPR and First Aid training required.

\n

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.

\n

• Demonstrated positive and collaborative approach to work.

\n

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel required.

\n

• Previous experience in education or a nonprofit organization is a plus.

\n

• Ability to quickly learn new computer programs and systems.

\n

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and assist with transporting equipment for general operations and special events.

Background screening includes criminal history and other matters related to suitability for employment, particularly because Miami Music Project works with children.

\n

Applicants are also required to complete a background check through the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF).
