\n Summary:
\n General Description: The Physician Assistant Faculty- College of Health Sciences faculty member will work primarily with the clinical faculty to monitor student performance on clinical rotations, supervise existing rotation sites, recruit new sites, develop clinical curriculum, and participate in teaching and assessment activities related to clinical and didactic student training. This position requires travel for site supervision and recruitment.
\n The faculty member will contribute to the educational, research, scholarship and service missions of the Program, the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, and the College of Health Sciences. This faculty position exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values, and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

\n Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n Knowledge: Knowledgeable in didactic pedagogy.\n Interdisciplinary clinical and educational training experience preferred
\n Excellent working knowledge and experience with MS Office, word processing, Excel, Powerpoint, and web applications \n Skills: Excellent teaching ability, with aptitude in research and scholarly activities
\n Excellent verbal skills and written communication
\n Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor
\n Excellent problem-solving skills \n Abilities: Able to consistently instruct and counsel students in an informative and professional manner
\n Able and willing to learn new skills as needed, especially to work with new technologies that become available
\n Able and willing to attend off-site educational and professional conferences and seminars
\n Able to seek out and pursue research and funding opportunities \n Qualifications: \n 1. Certified Physician Assistant with a Master’s degree in a field related to the health sciences, education, or management is required. Having, or in the process of attaining, a doctorate in a field appropriate to academic leadership in the PA profession is preferred.
\n 2. Must have or be eligible for licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Illinois.
\n 3. Must have at least three years of experience as a clinically practicing Physician Assistant. Prior experience in PA education and course instruction preferred. \n
Responsibilities:
\n Principal Duties and Responsibilities: \n 1. Facilitate student training on clinical rotations and participate in clinical rotation site supervision.\n 2. Assist the Director of Clinical Education in activities related to clinical rotation site maintenance, including but not limited to, procuring new rotation sites, monitoring and conducting site reviews, monitoring student performance on sites, reviewing and revising clinical rotation curriculum, creating and maintaining clinical rotation schedules
\n 3. Instruct and lecture PA students during both didactic and clinical training
\n 4. Design, write, and edit assessments and examinations for students in clinical training.
\n 5. Provide student advising and support as indicated.
\n 6. Other clinical administrative duties as necessary. \n Core Duties of all Faculty, Commensurate with FTE Efforts: \n 1. Serve as a course director.
\n 2. Advise students throughout their enrollment.
\n 3. Facilitate and mentor student research activities.
\n 4. Engage in research and other scholarly activities such as publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at regional or national professional conferences.
\n 5. Maintain clinical currency with health care trends, research, and PA practice, especially as it relates to area of expertise, through participating in workshops, conferences, and other training activities.
\n 6. Support teacher-practitioner model of the department through engaging in clinical practice and teaching
\n 7. Pursue external funding opportunities as they become available.
\n 8. Represent the Department, the College of Health Sciences and Rush University and at professional conferences and seminars. \n
