Associate Underwriter

Specialty Insurance Solutions (SIS) is seeking an Associate Underwriter to join our team!

Develops profitable premium growth through policy processing and technical support for both new and renewal business.

Operates under a designated level of authority at the direction of assigned underwriters.

Creates strong agency relationships.

Engages in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions.

Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority.

Reviews new and renewal business application documents and gathers additional information as needed to accurately underwrite policies.

Understands rating methodology and coverage.

Makes decisions and recommendations for varied situations applying judgment to interpret related information, policies, and procedures.

Executes policies within established authority level.

Identifies and analyzes low-to-moderate complexity accounts and makes sound underwriting decisions.

Applies knowledge to help solve problems of low-to-moderate scope and complexity.

Recommends solutions when outside of authority level.

Committed to increasing customer satisfaction for both internal and external customers.

Sets proper customer expectations.

Assumes responsibility for solving customer problems.

Ensures commitments to customers are met.

Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

Ability to follow established processes and demonstrate strong attention to detail.

Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts.

Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.

Valid and unrestricted driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Bachelor's degree preferred; experience in lieu of degree acceptable.

AU and / or AINS certification.

The full hiring range for this role is $51,455 – $61,750, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate, as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and / or may be considered for other positions.
