About the Role
Temple Beth Shalom is seeking an organized and detail-oriented High Holy Day Coordinator to manage
the planning and execution of our High Holy Day season. This is a contract position running from July
through September, concluding after Yom Kippur. Hours are structured to ramp up as the holidays
approach: approximately 10 hours per week in July and August, with significantly higher availability
expected in September during the peak planning and service period.
Compensation: $35/hour, not to exceed $7,200 total
Schedule: ~10 hours/week (JulyAugust); up to 30 hours/week in September
Location: Hybrid with required in-person presence during the High Holy Days and key planning
milestones
Reports to: Director of Operations
Responsibilities
Logistics & Project Management
- Develop and maintain a master project plan covering all High Holy Day programming and
deadlines
- Track deliverables, timelines, and interdependencies across staff and volunteer teams
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-of logistics during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
services
Ticketing
- Manage the full ticketing process for High Holy Day services, including setup, distribution, and
member inquiries
- Coordinate overflow or additional seating as needed in partnership with the Director of
Operations
Volunteer Coordination
- Recruit, schedule, and support volunteers across all High Holy Day roles
- Provide orientation and clear role assignments to ensure smooth service operations
Vendor & Venue Coordination
- Liaise with external vendors (A/V, catering, security, overflow venues, etc.)
- Manage logistics for any off-site or auxiliary service locations
Communications & Marketing
- Draft and distribute member-facing communications including announcements, ticketing
instructions, and service reminders
- Coordinate with temple staff on messaging and timing of outreach
Budget Tracking
- Monitor expenses within the approved High Holy Day budget
- Maintain accurate records and flag variances to the Director of Operations
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in event planning, logistics coordination, or a related field
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams
simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working in a Jewish community setting; prior synagogue experience is a plus but not
required
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining close collaboration
with staff
- Availability for in-person work during the High Holy Day period (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur)
