Details Cardiac Telemetry/PCU/DOU/IMC stepdown unit Patient population includes AFib, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, carotid stenosis, and venous stasis Unit supports post-cardiac and thoracic surgical patients including CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, fem-pop bypass, and amputations Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5-6 for lower acuity Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15), 36 hours per week 13-26 week contract options available Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4-week period (flexible) Floating required following unit rotation, not first to float Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication systems Utilizes equipment including arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-Stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires Requirements Active NC or compact RN license (pending acceptable at submission) BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required First-time travelers considered only with more than 24 months of cardiac experience Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, sheath removal, and pre/post cardiac cath care required Experience managing cardiac drips required; titration experience preferred Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), CPAP/BIPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management required EPIC charting experience preferred Arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge experience preferred Must pass EKG testing prior to start Additional Information Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-procedural care for cardiac and vascular surgical patients May be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters Unit orientation is 24 hours Navy scrubs required Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a lower rate Former Novant Health/New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and must disclose prior employment details for facility approval Up to 7 days of RTO auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO allowed during the first week of assignment Must work 2 of 3 major holidays Travel pairs allowed if assigned to different units and disclosed at submission First-time travelers considered only with more than 24 months of cardiac experience American Traveler Job ID P-747954.
