Brief Overview The Registered Nurse delivers nursing care for adult specialty units including nephrology, transplant, neurology, extended care, and cardiovascular patients. The RN develops a nursing diagnosis, establishes care objectives, defines interventions, and provides physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. The RN evaluates changing conditions, re‑evaluates care objectives, and independently delivers nursing care to achieve quality outcomes while receiving guidance and supervision. What you will do Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide a high level of nursing care in assigned units. Assess the patient’s condition using observation, examination, interview, laboratory findings, and other pertinent data. Use professional judgment and critical thinking to prepare, prioritize, and execute the patient’s plan of care. Implement interventions to achieve progress toward expected outcomes or stabilize the patient’s condition. Complete assessments within the specified time frame, recognizing changes in normal and abnormal parameters. Participate in interdisciplinary patient care planning and evaluate progression for safe discharge. Identify and complete assessments of patient or family educational needs and provide education at an appropriate level of understanding. Incorporate physiological, psychological, cultural, developmental, and spiritual needs into the plan of care. Evaluate and document responses to care, modify treatment plans, and contact physicians as circumstances require. Follow patient care and facility guidelines and procedures consistently. Work closely with the Nurse Manager to meet budgetary, process improvement, core measure, and patient satisfaction initiatives. Direct and delegate support personnel, provide guidance, and intervene when standards of care are deviated. Assist in education and training of other nurses and nursing students. Perform complex and routine treatments as prescribed by physicians and nursing protocols. Maintain patient care equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, and manage supplies and preventive maintenance. Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience Bachelor’s in Nursing Registered Nurse (RN) – Board of Nursing Active license in the state of practice upon start of employment Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience 1–3 years of experience in a clinical environment Expectations and Standards Commit to the daily application of Avera’s mission, vision, core values, and social principles.
