Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days (3x12-Hour Shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM) | 36 or 48 hours per week | 13–20 week assignments available | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, CHF, GI bleed, renal failure, pneumonia, and various surgical recovery cases
• Perform telemetry monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias via remote and on-unit monitoring
• Manage vascular access including peripheral IVs, central lines, PICC lines, and phlebotomy; administer blood products and medications including heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Provide respiratory support including high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP management, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Perform wound care, wound vac management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, and chest tube management
• Participate in float assignments to a nearby campus as required, and fulfill Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team responsibilities during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure accepted for submission)
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical and/or Telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy, and standard Med/Surg skills as listed
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Ability to work every other weekend and a minimum of 2 of 3 major holidays; no block scheduling except weekend blocks

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification; experience with post-angiogram, post-cardiac surgery, post-MI, or post-thoracic surgery patient care
• Experience with tracheostomy care, arterial blood gas interpretation, continuous bladder irrigation, port access/management, and IV insulin protocols
• Background in CVA management, substance withdrawal, bariatric surgery, and surgical drain care
• Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital background, and proficiency with electronic documentation and Pyxis medication systems
