SummaryThe Employee Relations Specialist supports staff employee relations functions within the Department of Human Resources at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). This individual will work with the Department’s Human Resources Advisors and leaders to assist with developing and implementing solutions for employee relations and development issues that enable the organization to maximize employee engagement and mitigate risk.Primary ResponsibilitiesProvides support to the Employee Relations, Office of Equal Access and Organizational Development teams and their client groups with tasks such as coordination, filing, project management, data entry and analysis, processing in Workday Integration System, processing unemployment claims, immigration support and administrative dutiesAssists to promote employee relations, initiativesManages inbound employee relations inquiries, provides thorough documentation, and captures accurate, comprehensive notes to support case resolution.Performs investigation of performance and corrective action-related concerns, EEOC claims, participates in Title IX administration and other organization charges/complaintsCoordinates and monitors activities to ensure compliance of programs with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and guidelines as well as conforming to human resources management policies and proceduresResponds to requests for information on HR policy interpretation from employeesResearch and compose high level correspondence, reports, and presentationsMaintain and audit employees’ relations and other trackers including but not limited to ADA accommodation, immigration sponsorship, grievance, reduction in force, performance management and remote work requestsSupport onboarding and offboarding activities for employees; assists with quarterly and annual report compilationPartner with the Manager and Organizational Development to collect and analyze departmental needs to identify opportunities that enhance talent development, employee engagement and teambuildingPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge – Skills – AbilitiesDemonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.Ability to handle sensitive, confidential and private information in a secure and trustworthy manner.Considerable working knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheets and database (MS Office).Ability to interact with all levels of management and employees across multiple departments.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Organizational and time management skills; must be detail-oriented, effectively manages workflow.QualificationsAppropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degreeMinimum Required Experience: 1 yearPhysical RequirementsWork requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.Work EnvironmentOccasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.Sensory AcuityAbility to detect and translate speech or other communication required.
