Lead Economic Development in Metro Atlanta’s Growing Southwest Corridor. The Coweta County Development Authority is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and results-driven executive to serve as its next President. This is an opportunity to lead economic development in one of metropolitan Atlanta’s most strategically positioned and rapidly growing counties. The next President will inherit a strong foundation of location, infrastructure, workforce, established industry, and community assets. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to help Coweta County clarify its economic development strategy, strengthen partnerships, expand its inventory of competitive sites, support existing employers, and pursue high-quality investment aligned with the community’s long-term goals. The Authority is seeking more than an administrator. It wants a visible and trusted leader who can build relationships, generate opportunities, navigate complex public-sector dynamics, and move projects from discussion to results. About Coweta County, GA Coweta County is located southwest of Atlanta and is part of the dynamic Atlanta metropolitan region. Newnan, the county seat, offers a historic downtown, a broad business and service base, and convenient access to the region’s employment, cultural, transportation, and recreational amenities. Coweta County combines metropolitan access with distinct communities, established neighborhoods, rural landscapes, educational resources, healthcare services, parks, and а strong sense of local identity. The County’s location provides direct access to Interstate 85 and convenient proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The area also benefits from rail connectivity and access to Georgia’s statewide transportation, utility, workforce, and business-development network. Coweta County supports an established industrial base, particularly in manufacturing and logistics. Its economic development strategy is increasingly focused on the quality, fiscal impact, workforce alignment, and long-term community value of future investment. About the Coweta County Development Authority The Coweta County Development Authority’s mission is to promote economic prosperity through the strategic attraction, retention, and expansion of capital investment and primary jobs. Its vision is to shape Coweta County’s economic future. The Authority serves as a central point of contact for economic development activity and works with Coweta County government, municipalities, state agencies, utilities, education and workforce partners, private landowners, developers, existing employers, and prospective businesses. The Opportunity The President serves as the Authority’s chief executive and principal economic development officer, leading the Authority’s countywide strategy, programs, personnel, partnerships, and operations under the Board’s direction. The President will supervise one Project Manager, establish a clear organizational vision, and remain actively involved in projects, employer outreach, relationship management, and community engagement. Coweta County’s continued growth requires a balanced approach to economic opportunity, infrastructure, fiscal sustainability, land use, and quality of life. The successful executive must build consensus, address community concerns, maintain momentum, and advocate effectively while preserving key relationships. Ideal Candidate Profile Demonstrated economic development, business, or organizational results. Experience managing complex public-private projects. Strong political awareness, judgment, and credibility. Knowledge of recruitment, expansion, sites, incentives, and workforce. Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Experience in a rapidly growing county, metropolitan-edge community, or similarly complex environment. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline. Significant progressive experience in economic development or related fields. Equivalent education and executive experience may be considered. Economic development organization leadership experience is preferred. Public-private, government, utility, or regional leadership experience qualifies.
