Sentara Heart part of Sentara Norfolk General hospital is hiring a Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist in Norfolk VA!

Must be within 30 minutes of Facility for Call Requirements.

Sign on Bonus up to $5000 available for Qualified Candidates!

Hours: 7am to 530pm. 6 week scheduling.

Required Call: 7 to 9 shifts in a 6 week schedule to include at least one full weekend.

A Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist often referred to as a Cath Lab Technologist is a healthcare professional specializing in assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves working closely with patients physicians and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality care and ensure the safety and accuracy of procedures.

About the Department:

Our Cardiac Cath/EP department operates with high efficiency and specialized capabilities maintaining five state-of-the-art catheterization labs and one minor procedure room. The department supports a wide range of services including diagnostic catheterizations coronary interventions and complex structural heart procedures such as TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) MitraClip implantation transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and loop recorder implantations. Most procedures are performed under moderate sedation with full anesthesia support and resources dedicated to both routine and advanced cases.

On average each Cath lab manages approximately seven cases per day. Electrophysiology (EP) services are delivered through four dedicated labs performing about four to five cases per lab daily and include advanced mapping and ablation.

The department is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of approximately 80 professionals including Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists Registered Nurses (RNs) EP Specialists and essential support staff. Our team benefits from extensive cross-training opportunities allowing staff to develop proficiency in both scrub and circulator roles as well as across different departmental functions. With a strong focus on teamwork continuous learning and professional growth our department consistently ensures safe high-quality patient care and smooth operations across all cardiac service lines.

Education:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent required
• A graduate of a diploma associates or bachelors health sciences program (includes but is not limited to cardiovascular technology ultrasound radiologic technology respiratory therapy or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic.
• Trade School graduate preferred

Certifications:

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) in progress preferred
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• ACLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience:

• 1 year of Cardiac Technician experience preferred
• Medication administration experience preferred
• Specialty procedures experience preferred
• EP and Cardiac Cath Experience preferred
• Sterile procedure experience preferred

Additional compensation may be available for this role such as shift differentials on-call pay overtime shift premiums extra-shift incentives or bonus opportunities.
