Associate Attorney

A growing boutique litigation firm in Houston, Texas is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to take on meaningful litigation work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while working closely with experienced trial attorneys. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of insurance defense experience and a strong interest in developing their litigation and trial skills. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of matters, work directly with senior attorneys, and gain exposure to a broad range of insurance-related disputes. Responsibilities Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution. Analyze legal and factual issues and develop effective litigation strategies. Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents. Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and other litigation proceedings. Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and other parties throughout the litigation process. Handle written discovery and assist with all phases of case development. Evaluate claims, liability, damages, and potential exposure. Participate in settlement negotiations and develop case strategies in collaboration with senior attorneys. Assist with trial preparation and, as experience develops, take on increasing responsibility in trial proceedings. Maintain organized case files and ensure deadlines and client obligations are met. Qualifications Required J.D. from an accredited law school Active license and good standing with the Texas State Bar 2+ years of insurance defense experience Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills Experience handling litigation matters from inception through resolution Ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team Willingness to work fully onsite in Houston, TX Preferred Experience with civil litigation and insurance-related disputes Deposition, mediation, and hearing experience Experience drafting dispositive motions and other substantive litigation documents Trial experience or strong interest in developing trial skills Experience communicating directly with insurance carriers and claims professionals $130,000 – $160,000 base salary , commensurate with experience and qualifications.
