Tier I Monitoring Specialist – Commercial Security Systems Location: Buford, GA Job ID: 378 The Tier I Monitoring Specialist will monitor video surveillance systems, electronic access control systems and other security and facility alarm systems that protect lives and property. The specialist uses modern technology to monitor a variety of alarm signals and responds to alarms following pre‑defined standard operating procedures, dispatching the proper authorities and notifying the appropriate parties. The role may require responding to clients or law enforcement via telephone. Shift work is required for 24/7, 365 coverage, with mandatory overtime at the discretion of management. All employees are required to report to work during inclement weather and work some holidays. Position Responsibilities and Expectations Hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Must be willing to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays. Monitors security access control systems, alarm systems, CCTV and other control programs that protect company employees, contractors, visitors, and assets. Capable of making reasonable assessments of possible threats when viewing security cameras. Maintains accurate records of all work performed, materials used, and communicates any problem encountered or identified with the security system. Answers incoming lines, remaining calm, and speaking clearly to customers. Provides timely, efficient, and professional service to all clients to ensure client satisfaction. Attends to other matters and duties assigned by the Monitoring Center Manager or other executive staff of Tech Systems. Minimum Qualifications A. Education High School Diploma required. Associate’s degree in Technical or Criminal Justice preferred. B. Experience Minimum 1 year experience in a Security Operations Center or 911 Dispatch Center. Some law enforcement and/or military background, a plus. C. Knowledge, Skills, & Competency Excellent computer skills, including in-depth knowledge of Microsoft based products (MS Word, Excel, MS Office Suite, Outlook) and the Internet. Experience with physical security, including video surveillance. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, mission‑critical environment. Excellent customer service skills with a sense of urgency when attending to internal needs. Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational skills. Ability to work accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively and supportively with Tech Systems staff, vendors, and customers. D. Driver’s License Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have a clean driving record that is satisfactory to Tech Systems’ automobile insurance carrier. E. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Job duties are performed in an office setting. This position will report to the Buford office with some telecommuting.
