This role serves as the operational liaison between Perioperative Services, Supply Chain, Purchasing, CSS, OR leadership, Contract Management, and Data & Analytics to ensure accurate inventory management, procedural support, ERP integrity, preference card accuracy, contract compliance, and supply continuity. The coordinator manages perioperative purchasing workflows, supports procedural demand planning, maintains inventory accuracy, assists with product standardization initiatives, and supports continuous operational improvement throughout the perioperative environment. Responsibilities Serves as the primary Supply Chain liaison for Perioperative Services and designated procedural departments, including ACU, Wound Clinic, and Central Sterile Processing. Creates and manages purchase requisitions for perioperative departments based on surgical scheduling, designated par levels, procedural demand, and organizational operational needs. Coordinates directly with Supply Chain Buyers to track purchase order status, monitor delivery timelines and ETAs, resolve service disruptions, backorders, and supply shortages, and elevate critical procedural supply concerns. Collaborates with Data & Analytics to establish and maintain accurate min/max inventory levels, ensure perioperative and OR items are properly loaded in the ERP system, validate item master integrity, UOM accuracy, and product standardization, and support inventory optimization initiatives. Works with Data & Analytics and Supply Chain leadership to identify high‑volume direct‑order products suitable for storeroom conversion, improving inventory visibility, stock availability, supply continuity, and operational efficiency. Supports the development, maintenance, and optimization of custom procedure packs in collaboration with clinical leadership, Supply Chain, Data & Analytics, and vendors. Partners with Perioperative Services and Data & Analytics to maintain accurate, current preference cards, ensure updates are reflected in procedural scheduling and ERP systems, and improve procedural picking accuracy and inventory forecasting. Coordinates with CSS, OR leadership, and Supply Chain teams to improve storeroom organization, case cart and procedural picking accuracy, inventory replenishment workflows, and supply chain operational efficiency. Education and Experience Requirements Education High school diploma required. Associate’s degree and/or AHRMM Materials Management Certification preferred. Experience At least 3 years of previous experience within a healthcare environment in Materials Management, Purchasing, and CSS/Surgical supplies required. Previous Perioperative Buying experience preferred. Prior computer experience with word processing, spreadsheets, purchasing applications, web‑based ordering, and electronic data interchange required. Prior experience with purchasing contracts preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Applies analytical and critical‑thinking skills to interpret complex operational, procedural, and supply chain information and to develop practical, data‑informed solutions to multi‑variable problems across the perioperative environment. Performs quantitative analysis — including inventory modeling, par‑level and min/max optimization, utilization and demand trending, and cost and spend analysis — and translates findings into actionable recommendations for leadership. Interprets and applies organizational policies, purchasing contracts, GPO agreements, and regulatory requirements to guide sound, compliant decision making. Communicates clearly and persuasively with clinical, operational, and executive stakeholders, conveying complex information effectively in written, verbal, and presentation formats. Gathers, synthesizes, and analyzes operational, inventory, utilization, and product data to inform Value Analysis, sourcing, and inventory optimization initiatives, exercising independent judgment in interpreting findings and recommending action.
