The individual in this position will play a key role in supporting and overseeing payroll operations across multiple companies and states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while partnering closely with internal teams to resolve payroll issues and improve processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all aspects of executive, supervisory, and union payroll processing
- Become proficient in payroll systems and assist with testing and reporting payroll-related system issues
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll discrepancies, including general ledger impacts
- Maintain payroll forecasting and base pay tracking reports
- Partner with field teams to resolve payroll questions, corrections, and compliance matters
- Research payroll tax regulations and ensure system updates remain current
- Manage ACH-related issues, duplicate checks, and uncashed check processes
- Prepare certified payroll reporting and reconcile payroll data to financial records
- Assist with workers' compensation reconciliations and W-2 processing
- Support quarterly payroll reporting, including tax filings and audits
- Reconcile payroll accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Participate in internal audits, reporting initiatives, and special projects
- Help guide and support payroll administrators and team operations
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Extensive experience processing multi-state, multi-company payroll
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, reconciliations, and reporting
- Experience working in complex payroll environments with high transaction volume
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and reporting analysis
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments
- Experience supporting or supervising payroll administration teams
- Experience with union payroll and payroll management systems is highly valued
- High-visibility role with direct exposure to leadership and operational teams
