Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Psychiatric Registered Nurse provides specialized mental health nursing care to patients with psychiatric conditions. They support patient recovery through evidence-based interventions, collaborative planning, and therapeutic relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive psychiatric nursing care following established clinical practices and organizational standards.
• Assess patient mental health needs and develop individualized care plans utilizing critical thinking and nursing theory.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions and treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding mental health conditions, medication management, and coping strategies.
• Advocate for patient safety by recognizing and escalating safety concerns or clinical risks.
• Facilitate patient engagement through therapeutic communication, therapeutic activities, and purposeful hourly rounding.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid NYS RN license with active certification.
• Demonstrate a minimum of 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience.
• Possess BLS certification; CPI or PMCS certification required.
• Show proficiency with EPIC electronic health records (highly preferred).
• Commit to ongoing professional development and ethical nursing practices.
