Primary Care PA-C or ARNP (Inpatient Psychiatry)-0.6 FTE

Multicare invites a Primary Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (ARNP) to provide routine medical care in a 70‑bed involuntary inpatient psychiatric facility. This role involves conducting complete medical examinations, diagnosing medical conditions, and managing medical treatment for routine problems, with consultation from the supervising physician as needed. The position offers a 0.6FTE (24 hours weekly) schedule with no after‑hours or overnight call, and the ability to weekend work for additional compensation. Responsibilities Deliver in‑person Primary Care services in a freestanding inpatient psychiatric hospital during business hours. Manage an average of 1‑2 new admissions per day and 3‑4 acute visits daily. Conduct basic procedures such as suture removal and wound care. Collaborate with an established team of psychiatric providers, social workers, nurses, and mental health specialists. Perform routine histories and physicals for every new admission. Assess and manage medical conditions, including acute complaints and chronic illnesses. Complete treatment plan goals for medical care as part of an interdisciplinary team. Consult with psychiatric providers regarding co‑occurring psychiatric and medical conditions. Prescribe, monitor, and evaluate results of prescribed medications. Order and interpret laboratory tests as required for medical care. Provide substance withdrawal management as needed. Accurately and appropriately document medical care provided. Implement antimicrobial stewardship practices. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine preferred. Strong interest in serving patients with psychiatric conditions. Current Washington State ARNP/nursing license. DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority. Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association. Experience providing medical care in family practice, geriatric, and young adult populations. Preferred experience working with mentally ill populations. Familiarity with rules, regulations, and professional standards governing the treatment of mentally ill clients. Interest and ability to provide care for a chronic population with multiple medical and psychiatric problems. Compensation and Benefits Starting base pay is determined by years of experience and calculated for a 0.6FTE appointment. The salary range for this position is $165,000.00 – $173,000.00 USD, with weekend work providing additional income.
