Scientist I/II - Cancer Biology

AbbVie Oncology Discovery Research seeks a laboratory-focused Scientist I/II in cancer biology to discover and validate novel oncology targets using functional genomics and advanced molecular techniques. The role emphasizes independent research execution, multidisciplinary collaboration, and scientific rigor in a discovery-stage environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify research opportunities, develop hypotheses, and advance cancer target discovery activities independently
- Plan and execute laboratory research and method-development activities with technical troubleshooting
- Integrate multidisciplinary data, draw conclusions, and design experiments to advance project objectives
- Apply and rapidly learn new experimental approaches across functional genomics and molecular technologies
- Deliver high-quality experimental results while managing multiple concurrent research priorities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience, or Master's degree with 2+ years (Scientist I); or Bachelor's with 7+ years, or Master's with 5+ years (Scientist II)
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture and broad range of cell-based and molecular assays
- Proficiency in functional genomics and 'omics technologies including CRISPR screening and RNA sequencing
- Strong knowledge of signal transduction and oncogenic mechanisms
- Demonstrated scientific rigor, collaboration skills, and written and oral communication abilities
- Drug discovery or translational research experience preferred
