Mental Health Technician

Location: Scenic Mountain Medical Center

About the Shift: Varies; 7pm- 7am

About the Position: The Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties and assists people who have mental illnesses and/or developmental disabilities, under the direct supervision of the registered nurse, charge nurse and/or DNP. The MHT is responsible for the ability to recognize and report psychological and physical changes in the adult and geriatric patient; ability to recognize and report suspected abuse, neglect and/or exploitation; may assist with daily living activities, lead patients in educational and recreational activities, or accompany patients to and from examinations and treatments. May require restraint of violent patients. Monitor and document patient care assignments appropriately. Perform duties with little or no supervision. Experience in dealing with the mentally ill (preferred). Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress. Complies with Scenic Mountain Medical Center and Behavioral Health policies and procedures.

Regulatory Requirements: Education/Licenses/Certificates: High school graduate diploma or GED is preferred. Certified Nursing Assistant recommended, but not required. Certifications as indicated by the Steward Certification document.
