We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support a long-term contract opportunity in Rockville, Maryland. This role focuses on lease-related accounting analysis, including the review of common area maintenance charges, real estate tax activity, accruals, and account reconciliations. The selected consultant will also prepare customized financial reports and provide reliable insight to support ongoing accounting operations.
Responsibilities:• Analyze common area maintenance charges to verify accuracy, identify discrepancies, and support proper financial treatment
• Examine real estate tax schedules and related activity to ensure calculations, timing, and supporting details are appropriate
• Prepare and review accruals tied to property and lease-related expenses in alignment with accounting records
• Perform detailed reconciliations across assigned accounts and resolve outstanding variances in a timely manner
• Develop ad hoc financial reports and summaries to address business questions and management requests
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather supporting documentation and clarify accounting issues impacting assigned areas
• Maintain organized records and schedules that support reporting accuracy and audit readiness• Strong background in common area maintenance reconciliation within a real estate or property accounting environment
• Hands-on experience reviewing and accounting for real estate tax activity and related schedules
• Solid understanding of real estate accounting principles, including expense analysis and period-end accruals
• Proven ability to complete detailed account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and identify inconsistencies
• Proficiency in preparing custom reports and responding effectively to ad hoc reporting needs
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in a consulting or contract capacity
