Product Development Technician

Product Development Technician Location: Madison Heights, MI - Onsite Pay Rate: $26.00/hour to $27.14/hour Duration: One Year Hours: Mon – Wed 8am to 5pm (20-25 hours/week) Qualifications Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree, with at least two years of college chemistry or related science courses. Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable. Proficient in routine mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Experience with basic tool manipulation, including mixing equipment, lab glassware, testing machines, and standard lab tools. Skilled in manipulating and graphing data and reporting experimental work. Experience working in a team environment and managing multiple projects. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Position requires 15–20 hours per week and offers a flexible schedule. Responsibilities This is a laboratory-based position focused on mixing of laboratory size adhesive formulations and executing testing plans for the development of new and replacement products. Preparing tests according to customer specifications and internal test methods, completing timely testing to record and obtain data for assigned projects, and producing reliable, replicable data. Reading and utilizing dial calipers, micrometers, and standard shop measuring tools. Setting up, calibrating, operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting testing equipment. Applying basic laboratory techniques to perform routine and non-routine tests with limited supervision. Mixing laboratory size adhesive formulations using different mixing equipment with limited supervision. Collecting and analyzing data. Entering accurate data into lab management system, computer databases, and test reports. Understanding and performing mathematical and statistical functions. Preparing data reports, graphs, and charts as requested. Demonstrating creativity with new ideas, suggesting efficiency improvements, and making recommendations to enhance procedures. Following proper material storage, handling, and disposal procedures for hazardous waste materials.
