Staff AccountantOur Billings, Montana office is currently seeking an experienced Staff Accountant.POSITION SUMMARY:Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Staff Accountant handles various accounting functions for the firm, as well as provides back-up support in the areas of Accounts Payable and Payroll processing.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts - in some cases this will be daily.Reconciles detailed financial data, export, generate, and present data in various report formats.Prepares periodic financial reporting and expense analysis for Firm Management.Analyzes financial data, reconciles variances, and communicates findings to Chief Financial Officer and/or other staff as appropriate.Monitors and assists with administration of all firm credit cards.Assists with payroll filings and reconciliations.Assists with various local tax filings.Assists with maintenance of fixed assets schedules.Assists with month-end and year-end close.Provides support for audits by external entities.Assists with benefit compliance monitoring.Monitors adherence to the Firm's policies and procedures.Assists with annual budget process.Assists with various financial and accounting projects.Acts as a role model for integrity, fiscal responsibility, and ethical behavior.Researches and stays apprised on industry trends and best practices.Perform other duties as assigned.KEY SKILLS:Knowledge of basic GAAP theories and procedures and ability to apply this knowledge in ensuring actions and decisions are compliant.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills required to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of personnel and external clients.Able to maintain strict confidentiality of the firm's internal and personnel affairs and client information.Able to work in collaboration within a team and independently.Able to learn new skills as technology evolves.Possesses excellent attention to detail, follows up on projects, and follows through on deliverables.Able to develop and apply comprehensive planning and organizing strategies to ensure tasks and projects are appropriately prioritized and resources are used effectively and efficiently.Able to work under tight deadlines, handle multiple detailed tasks, and anticipate when help will be needed from department members; able to work under pressure during seasonal peaks.Flexible and able to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and opportunities.Able to effectively work in a multi-office environment and a culturally and educationally diverse environment.Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar, adapts communication to suit needs, presents numerical data effectively, and is able to read and interpret written information.Speaks clearly and persuasively, listens and gets clarification as needed, responds well to questions, and takes a collaborative approach in group settings.Able to take responsibility for work activities and personal actions, follow through on commitments, acknowledge and learn from mistakes, and recognize the impact of one's behavior on others.Able to gather relevant information, interpret and evaluate the data, and develop sound, practical solutions to complex issues.Able to be a self-starter.
