We are partnering with the Department of Administration (DOA) at the State of Rhode Island to hire an Accounting Control Specialist. The ideal candidate will support statewide financial operations by reviewing accounting transactions, reconciling accounts, assisting with payroll validation, and providing financial guidance to state agencies. This role requires strong accounting knowledge, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
Compensation & Highlights:
- Pay Rate: $40 per hour
- Location: Providence, RI
Accounting Control Specialist Responsibilities
- Review, research, and approve general ledger journal entries.
- Reconcile financial transactions, asset and liability accounts, and interagency activity.
- Support payroll validation, garnishments, taxes, deductions, and benefit payments.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare financial reports, projections, and expenditure analyses.
- Support federal grant reporting and cost management.
- Maintain confidentiality when handling payroll, benefits, and other sensitive information.
- Provide financial guidance and issue resolution to state agencies.
Accounting Control Specialist Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least two years of responsible fiscal, accounting, or business management experience.
- Knowledge of general ledger systems, governmental accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage complex financial data accurately and exercise independent judgment.
