Adecco is partnering with a growing organization in the catering, food service, and events space to recruit an experienced Controller . This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing all accounting and financial operations across multiple business units. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, hospitality industry experience, and the ability to support strategic decision-making in a fast-paced, high?volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Manage and mentor the Accountant and Bookkeeper

• Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and bank reconciliations

• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting across all business units

• Lead month-end and year-end close processes

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Develop and manage annual operating budgets and financial forecasts

• Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis

• Partner with operations and leadership to improve cost efficiency and profitability

Cost Control & Inventory Oversight

• Collaborate closely with culinary and operations teams to monitor:

• Food costs

• Labor costs

• Inventory levels

• Implement and maintain effective cost control systems and reporting

• Analyze margins across catering events, contracts, and food service programs

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all federal, state, and local regulations

• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial policies

• Coordinate and support audits with external accountants and auditors

• Ensure compliance with NYC and NYS payroll, tax, and labor laws

Cash Flow & Financial Strategy

• Monitor and manage cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships

• Oversee accounts receivable collections and accounts payable cycles

• Provide financial insights to support leadership, growth initiatives, and strategic planning

Leadership & Collaboration

• Supervise, coach, and develop finance team members

• Collaborate cross-functionally with:

• Operations teams (Mt. Vernon kitchen, East Harlem events)

• Sales and Catering teams (including Tripleseat reporting)

• HR on payroll, benefits, and compliance

• Support executive leadership with financial reporting and forecasting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA strongly preferred)

• 5–10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience

• Experience within hospitality, catering, food service, or multi-site operations strongly preferred

• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

• Systems experience including:

• ADP Workforce Now (payroll)

• QuickBooks or similar ERP systems

• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $104,999.00 per year
